Eagle

Yesterday I received my Eagle rank badge. A lot of people think they have until your 18 years old. You can not decide a month before your 18th birthday because by then its two late. Plus you miss out on opportunities for other awards. So it is best to get your Eagle at a younger age. For me I can not decide what to do next. Well it is important to get your Eagle, but it is also better if you earn more awards. It’s better if you get at least three Eagle palms. For those who do not know, a palm is an additional award you can only get after you have received your Eagle.

I also received a lot of gifts last night. I was given a statue of an Eagle, a ring, and a key chain that was from the world Jamboree. There is a lot of stuff from the scout office that they give to you for receiving your Eagle.
As I mentioned earlier I can not decide what to do next. I have plenty of options to choose from. There is the Leave No Trace award, I could get my religious emblem, I could get my Eagle palms. The first one is the Leave no trace award which has to do with leaving a campsite cleaner then it was before. To get this award you have to recite and explain the principles of leave no trace, practice it on three camp outs, earn camping and environmental science merit badges, participate in a related service project, and a presentation. For a religious emblem you have to talk to a leader in your church and they tell you the requirements. Palms you just have to earn five merit badges, do a little service project, and you have to wait three months after receiving your eagle or last palm. Of course there are other awards I could get that would be hard. The life saving one is really hard because obviously you have to save a life. The other hard one to get is the William T. Hornaday awards because you have to do a service project to influence the environment.

You can also join the Order Of The Arrow, or OA for short. To join the OA you have to be on 20 camp outs spanning a two year period and be nominated by your troop to do it. I have a long time before I turn 18 so I could probably earn a lot of the awards I mentioned. I will show you pictures of what some of the awards look like. The first picture are the eagle palms which are earned in that order, bronze gold silver. Do not ask me why they are in that order because that is just the order you earn them in. The next picture is the bronze statue of the eagle I received. The gold plate says my name and December 22, 2007. The statue is not solid bronze it is just made to look like bronze. I hope I have inspired some of you boys who have not received their eagles to hurry up and get a move on!

Books

Everybody likes to read a good book every once and a while. Some more frequent than others and some not at all. No everybody likes to read the same books. People like different genre's some people like at least two kinds. You can mostly separate them into adventure, romance, fantasy, mystery, science fiction, historical fiction, and action. I would have to say that adventure is my favorite genre to read. The next ones I like to read are mystery, science fiction, and action. The one I hate the most is probably romance. Than the rest are like l would only read if some said I read this book and it was great and you should read it. Their are also combinations of genre's like Harry Potter is like adventure, romance, and a mystery. Usually when a book contains more than one genre more people like it.

Then of course their is everybody books to read list. When I am thinking of adding a book on I base it off of three things the first one, can I read it. Second, do I have time to read it. Third, would it keep me interested. My list right now contains a lot of series like, the star wars trilogy, The bourne series ,and the three musketeers. I also have books like the Hunt for the Red October. But, In a school system were we are required to read a book for a grade we barely have time to read books we want to read. That is why when we get a choice to read a book or something else I pick the something else. I also do this to avoid a long list of books I have to read. Of course you have to have a reason you want to read a book to put it on your list. The main reason I want to read the Bourne series is because I want to see how close the it is with the movie and it explains more. I also want to read the Star Wars Trilogy because I want to read the original star wars not all of the off shoot series that are about Jedi's and versions by different authors.

Now I have a lot of favorite books. If somebody were to ask me what is your favorite book I would say for what genre. If you said adventure the one book that would scream out to me would be Eragon. If you said fantasy I would have to go with Harry Potter. For Mystery I would have to say the count of Monte Cristo. That book was good because it left me wonder what would happen next and you had to guess what would he do next in his scheme. Everybody likes to read now some may not to do it as much as others but deep down everybody reads

Christmas Shows

One thing I like about this time of year is all the Christmas show that are on. ABC Family does their 25 days of Christmas and show a movie every night. Then their are the Christmas shows you watch that came out in theaters. People like the movies because they help them feel the Christmas spirit. People have their favorite Christmas movie. Now their are a lot of different types of Christmas movies. Theirs comedy, which is a movie like Elf. The cartoon movies like frosty the snowman. The list of all the Christmas movies could go on and on.

One of my favorite cartoon movie is Santa Clause is coming to town. It is such a good movie because of how it shows possible solutions to questions most little kids ask and just because it is so funny. In this movie it shows how Santa became Santa and how the reindeer fly. I think it is so funny. In one part after burger meister meister burger slips on a toy he has his foot wrapped up and the doctor says,"just as I suspected you've broken your funny bone.". Also when burger meister is playing with a yo-yo and his guard says he is breaking is own law and then burger meister yells " I've been bamboozled.". It's a fun movie to watch.

One of my favorite movies that is not a cartoon is Elf. Now any movie with Will Ferrell in it is usually funny. just how the story is about an elf coming into the real world and not really fitting in. like when he is at the department store and the lady says "fruit spray" and he sprays it in his mouth like its the actual fruit. Also when he throws the snow balls at above normal human speed. Oh, and when they are in the doctors office and he had his finger pricked and he starts to eat the cotton balls. Then who could forget the classic syrup on spaghetti. One year for a white elephant gift we gave a copy of elf with candy, a box of candy cane, a bag of candy corn, and a bottle of syrup. this is just a good movie if you want to have a laugh.

One of the best Christmas movies ever would have to be The Christmas Story. One of the funniest parts has to be when the lamp shows up and has the word fragile in big black letters. Then he pronounces it Fra-gee-lay and says it must be Italian. Who could forget the "I triple dog dare ya." and the kid sticks his tongue to the pole and the fire department to help remove it. Then when Ralph's mom puts his little brother in his snow suit and he can not put his arms down and she says you can put your arms down when yo get to school. Then their was that time that Ralph is helping his dad with the car and he says Fudge well that's what he thought he said but he said the grand mother of all swear words and he gets his mouth washed out with soap. Ah, it is such a good movie I an;t tell you every thing.

Christmas Tradition

Most families have traditions they do for the holidays. I like my families traditions. Every year we decorate a tree. My dad lives to decorate trees because we never make the tree look like the trees from other years. We always buy new ornaments every year. Most of the time we have a real tree and some times a flocked tree (which is a tree that looks like the branches have snow on them). This year though we have a fake tree, even though my dad hates fake trees, because we are remodeling the kitchen. Now I am going to tell you about the trees we have decorated over the past couple of years and I will show you a picture if I have one of it.

This a picture of this years tree.
It is a small tree but we had to make do. We did not put that much effort into this tree because we can't spend to much on the tree. the theme of this tree was "blue". You can see that their is a ribbon of different shades of blue going around the tree. It also has poinsettias with light blue pedals. It also has blue and white glass balls. You can barley tell but their is plastic icicles. You can't see the lights because they are not on at the moment.

Last year we did have a tree, but I do not have a picture of it and I can not remember what it looks like. Last year though we did build an igloo, with the neighbors, and have pleanty of pictures of it. We would build the igloo with blocks, like most are, and then pack the gaps with snow. The first couple of pictures will show how we made the blocks of snow. The picture after that shows me and my brother filling gaps int the first couple of layers of the igloo. In the next picture it shows the igloo when it is about half way done. Finally the last picture shows the igloo when we are around the top part. that was about as far as we got because gravity started to take over and the blocks we put on would fall off. In order to get it to work we would have to brace it up and spray it with water in order to stay, but that would be too much work and the igloo started melting the next day.

Now I have a picture of our 2005 tree.
As you can see this tree is flocked and when ever your tree is flocked changes what king of color scheme you do with the ornaments. Like you would not want to do blue on this tree. You would not want to do gold on the other tree. This tree is a lot bigger than this years tree and it is also a real tree that is flocked. The theme for this tree is red and gold. Like the other tree this tree has a ribbon going down it that is red and gold. you can also see that their is an angel on top. You can not realy see them from this picture but their is pine cones in the tree. Then the rest of the ornaments are just different ornaments that are red and gold.

Movies

It always takes me along time to type my blogs. I think it is because I almost do the same thing every week. In almost all my blogs I talk about my week. So, I am going to talk about things that don't involve my week. I also had a couple of words I could not spell once and a while but I have discovered how to spell check my blogs. I also think I don't make my blogs stand out that much ,which if you have not noticed yet, I am typing in a different color than normal. I'm also going to add pictures and if I am lucky I might even put a video clip on my blog.

My first topic that doesn't involve a summary of my week is how I'm like a movie critic. Even though nobody hears my thoughts of a movie we are all sort of like critics, other wise we would like every movie that comes out. In order to be a movie critic the one thing that is real important is seeing the movie. The things you consider when a critic is how well it gets your attention, if you enjoyed it, and it kept you interested through out the entire movie.

I went and saw Enchanted and it was a pretty good movie but not what I expected. Now in order to get people to come to the movie they make a preview to show what the movie will be like. I have kind of noticed certain things that relate movies to their previews. In comedies the preview shows a little bit of the funny parts and the movie is funny. Then theirs the comedies that all the funny parts are revealed in the preview and makes the movie boring. Then the movies with good preview that suck and movies that preview sucks but then the movie is actually good. Then their is a movie that was made after a book. In this category it depends on your opinion and if you have read the book or not. You either like it because it stuck with the book or you hate it because it did not followed the book at all. Like I was disappointed with the movie Eragon because it was nothing like the book because of how much they had cut out so much. but then again a movie can have a good preview and still be good.

Then another important part are sequels. A sequels you have to be care full about because they are not always good as the first one. The first couple of sequels may be good but when you hit four or five the story line begins to get dull. The only way a series is good when it is on movie six is if the movies are one big problem. That is why Star wars movies are good because one movie is not better than the others, sure you can still have your favorite one but it keeps the story going. This is also why series that resolve a problem in every movie and starts a new one in the next movie seem to get dull and are not as interesting as the first. Then when a movie has two sequels if the second was better than the first the third will most likely be bad.
Then sometimes a movie series doesn't get good until the third or fourth movie. Then a book series that is made into movies really depends on how close it is to the book because an author makes a reader want to read the other books so if the movies follow the books then everybody will follow the movies and think it is a great movie.

P.S. don't be in the same room with a deep frier or a person chopping onions and then look at a computer screen for more then fifteen minutes because it hurts your eyes like no other.

Unbelievable Week End

This week end was unbelievable. I can not believe that Layton lost to Alta. I did not get to go to the game, but I watched some of it on t.v.. I can not believe that the only points Layton scored was a touchdown return of the opening kick off. It seems like any football team that does that in a championship game will always lose. In the Ohio-Florida game, Ohio returned the opening kick off for a touchdown but they ended up losing. In Super Bowl 41 the Bears returned the opening kickoff and lost to the colts. That was how I spent my Friday.

Saturday was better. Me and my family woke up and left at eight in the morning to see our friends from Colorado run in a track meet. After the track meet we ate lunch at red robins. I had the cluck's and fries, which are chicken fingers and fries. Then I ask the waiter for fry sauce. One of our friends from Colorado, who use to live in Utah, said "That's the only thing I miss about not living in Utah". Then the runners, that are coached by our friends, asked "What's fry sauce?". After we told them that it was mainly ketchup and mayonnaise they wanted to try it. Once they tried it they said it was okay, but I know that they would have hated it if we were some where else because Red Robins puts like a buffalo sauce in it.

When we got back to our Hotel I took a nap. After I woke up all of the adults went out to eat. We ate in the hotel because they do a dinner every night like how most hotels serve breakfast in the morning, this one also served dinner. Then the kids went back to our friends room were we watched the haunted mansion. after the movie we got a little rowdy and someone complained to the front desk so we had to settle down. We watched t.v. for ten minutes then decided to watch the polar express. It is not my favorite movie but it's okay. I like the book better which is why I do not like the movie because they added so much stuff in the movie. Then the adults came back and we went back to our room and went to bed.

That brings us to today. I woke uped and watched t.v. for a bit then I went down for breakfast. they had waffles with powder sugar on them. We went back to our room gathered our stuff and checked out. we drove back to our house and unpacked. Then that brings us here. I can't wait for tonight because my cousin is having a birthday party. It's fun to go to cousins birthday parties because we always do something fun or we talk about something. like one time we started talking and we had put together a family camping trip. I'm so glad that we only have a two day school week and I can not wait for thanksgiving. this year we are having it at our house. My mom is excited because she gets to use the new oven she bought a week ago. I just can't wait to eat all the food.

done at last!

Today I finally got to the eagle rank for scouts. It's been a long journey to get there. It was really hard because at first I did not go to scouts for six months. I had my board of review today. I'm just glad that it is done. On my mom's side of the family all of her brothers recieved their eagle.

When I first became a boy scout I did not attent all my meetings at first. Since I never went at first I fell behind so I had only earned my tenderfoot when I turned twelve. Most people get their 1st class by the age of twelve. I pick up fast though, I earned my 2nd and 1st class by the time I was thirteen. Then I had my star and life by the time I turned fourteen. Most people had their eagle by the age of fourteen. but since I started late I have already turned fourteen but, thats all right it's earning it that matters.

Part of geting to the rank of eagle is merit badges. To become a eagle their are twelve merit badges that you are requiered to get. Then you have to get a total of twent-one merit badges ( the twelve required are in cluded in that number) . You can earn most of the required by doing whats called a merit badge class. Merit badge class is a class you can go to to earn that merit badge. The other ones that don't have a class you have to find a counselor for that badge. Doing a merit badge thats not a class is the same as the class your just not in a classroom type enviroment. In a class the teacher is a merit badge counselor but they're a counselor for every one in the class.

To become an eagle you have to do an eagle project. It is a big thing to do and requires alot of time and effort. For my project I collected items for a women shelter. I did it around Christmas last year.

All of my mom's brothers recieved their eagles. My mom's older brother got his before he was fourteen. he did not like scouting that much so my grandma and grandpa told him the sooner he got his eagle the sooner he could quit. Statisticly only two out of every one hundred scouts get their eagles.

One of the fun things about geting your eagles is the court of honnor afterwards. A court of honnor is were people are reconized for their accomplishments in scouts. Normally it's for everyone but one for a eagle scout is for just that one person. I'm just glad I earned it.

Finaly the end of the term

I so excited that the terms almost over. I might actually get a 4.0 GPA this time. I am to the point that teachers are not giving any more homework but the reason for that is that we have tests to take. I am so glad because this amout the last bit of homework I have for the term.

I can not beleive that we would have a long weekend, because of UEA, than comeback for three days then have a break for three more days. It's awsome because I have so many things I can do now that I could not do because of homework. I can now watch T.V. and catch up on some shows I have missed. I also like to relax and not feel the stress of homework. Since AR was do today I can also read the books I want to read with out any hurry to get them done. With my big long list of books to read I think I will start with the Hunt for the Red October.

I am also excided because today is Halloween. Since I am in the 9th grade I am no longger allowed to go trick or treating. How ever I can still dress up. The reason I am still allowed to dress up is because I goto halloween parties. this year since I am only going to one party I just threw on a cloak from last year. But the parties are still fun. My family have friends who have a party every year. This year they did not have one I do not know whythey did not have it this year. Usually at their party you would have to dress up to a theme. One time the theme was red and we went as heart cards my mom and dad dressed up as th king and queen of hearts, I was the seven of hearts (because I was seven years old), and my brother was the four of hearts. We usually have apple cider and they buy gifts and we play games with them.

Since I can not go trick or treating I stay home and pass out candy. this may sound boaring but it's not. You get to see what every one is dressed up as. I won't have to do that much this year because my brother has decided not to go trick or treating this year. Since he is staying home I can do more things I want to do, like jump up and scare people. I'm just kidding I am not going to scare peple but other people would probally do it.

We also have traditions we do. Like we normaly hand out glow sticks because kids likie them and since most of the kids put them on as soon as they get them it protects them from getting hit by a car because the driver sees the glow stick glowing. We also eat pizza for dinner. then after we eat are pizza we carve pumpkins. We usually do about four or five pumpkins. This year one of our pumpkins was stolen. we usually carve pumpkins like they're our proffesion. Another thing we do like it is our proffesion is decerating Christmas trees. We always decerate it differently every year.

I cant wait for tonight. I hope you don't have toomuch home work

Halloween

I can't wait for Halloween. It's going to be fun even though I don't go trick or treating any more I still go to Halloween parties. What makes a party good is how well its host has organized the party. Most of the time you have to have a costume for Halloween parties. I don't know what I will dress up as because I have not been invited to a party yet. But we all know as Halloween gets closer every day we are nearing the end of the term.

I still have to finish up all of my assignments like entering a writing contest. I am thinking about entering this Halloween short story contest. I have seen a lot of people put poems and short stories in their blogs so I'm going to share one of my stories' that has a mysterieous plot.

It's a dark and stormy Halloween night. Kids are out Trick or Treating while four sixteen year olds are hanging out around an old light house by the shore. the name of the first teen is Frank Johnson who is dating Jessica Ray. They were also out with Curtis Leckington and his date Mellissa Jones.

They decided to go visit an old Lighthouse that many people thought were haunted. They all met at Curtis' house. As they were walking they heard a noise coming from the ally. "What was that",Mellisa screamed. "I don't know", Curtis responed in a calming voice. "I'll go check it out", Frank said with a mocking kind of tone. Frank crept closer toward the garbage cans. When sudenly a black cat jump out. Frank was screaming like crazy. Then Melissa thought the cat looked familiar. Of course! it's the Richards' cat, which is the more friendly then the other neighbors' cats. "Frank! It's the Richards' cat",Melissa yelled out.

After they figured out that the cat was disturbed by their talking Curtis pulled out his cell phone and saw that it was acting a little strange. Mellissa pulled out her pda and noticed hers was doing the same thing blinking and the image was moving back and forth. "Whats this", Jesica questioned. "That's Mine" Frank told her. "It's a letter and why would it be adressed to the Rowans". "Then It must be theirs" Curtis mentioned "How do you know its theirs",Jesica questioned. "Because it says Rowan on the mail box" Curtis answered. "Well thats weird I don't remember anyone living in this house". Mellissa said while strocking her chin. "I think the Women's society said this house has been abandoned for years" Mellissa said in a mysterious voice. " It looks like their is a Children's playground in the backyard" Frank mentioned in a confused voice. "Well lets see if the people are home", Jesica said hapily while heading for the front door of the house.

So do you like the first couple of paragraphs of my stories.

Science Olympiad

On Friday we found out if we made the team or not and what team we would be one. Well I wasn't good enough to be on the Junior High team but I am on the High School team. Even though I am not on the Junior High team it will still be fun to conpete on the High School level. Plus there are diffrent events on the High School level that sound fun. Some of the events I want to do are Robot Ramble, Boomilevers, and Remote Sensing

The Boomilevers event is building a boomilever and testing it to see how much weight it can hold before it breaks. First, you have to design a boomilever. Second, you build the boomilever. Third, you have to test the boomilever. Then the fourth step you design a new boomilever based on how the boomilever failed (or how the boomilever broke from the load). To test the boomilever you basicly mount it on a testing structure then you put a rod on it and hook it to a bucket wich you fill with salt. This is similar to the Tower building event wich is on Junior High level. This is the event I would do if I was on the Junior high team.

I don't know that much about Remote sensing but what I know is that you have to find objects by using a map and electronic sensing equipmant. This sounds really fun becaus you would use things like a GPS. I know a little more about Robot ramble. Last year I did an event like this and it was called Sumo Bot. In the Sumo Bot event you would build a robot that had to be able to fit in a certain dimention. Then you would try to push the other team's robot out of the square. In Robot ramble you build a robot and then you have to move certain objects into a certain area. This one would be fun because making robots are a really though challenge.

One of the fun things a bout being on Science Olympiad is the competitions. The District competition is fun because it's the smallest competition. The District competition only takes up the morning and only half the events are at this competition. Even though you don't get any awards it is a good practice. The State Competiton is fun because it takes up the whole day. This is where you can earn medals and your team can win it all and goto the National competition. The fun thing about the National competition is that you get to travel and its like a vacation depending on where it is being held, like this year it is in Washington D.C.. It is going to be hard this year because in order for the high School team to go we have to beat the other High schools, like Layton and Davis high.

So eventhough I am not on the Junior high team it will still be fun on the High Schol team. and it's still be like I'm on the Junior high team.

Don't Know What to Write About

I do not know what to write about because there is too much to write about. Instead of telling you about one thing and going into real detail about it, I am going to tell you alot of things and a little bit about that thing.

One thing thats happening is Science Olympiad that I am trying out for. Our applications are due tomarrow and we have to take a test on Wendsday to show how smart we are and the test is two-hundred questions and we only have two hours to do it. We find out on Friday if we make it or not. We might have a High School team this year which means its made up of fifteen ninth graders (who are really considered to be in High School) who compete against other High Schools. I hope I make the Junior High team because I do not like the events on the High School teams and I would not like to compete against High School students.

I have an Orchestra concert on Wendsday (wich is the same day as the test). I do not think we are ready for it yet. There is this one song that we have not had for a long time so we haven't practice it that much. Our teacher may just cut the song from the program if it is not ready to be preformed. Like I have said before, The concert is on the same day as the test, which I will not get done with until 5:30. Then I have to be at the concert at 6:15 and then it starts at 7:00. After the concert I have to come home and do my homework. There is math which will be a worksheet but can still take a long time plus any other homework I have from other classes. I have a feeling that this day will be very long and I will look forward to sleeping

I am also going to go camping on Friday. It is going to be a fun trip. It will take along time to get there. We are going to leave around 2:45 and then be back late Saturday evening around 9:00. I do not know what we are doing on this camp out but it is always fun to go. We arrive around dinner time so we quickly set up camp while our scout master cookes dinner then we eat dinner. After dinner we talk and play around then when its night we gather around the campfire and roast marshmelows. Then we talk more then go to our tents then we have a choice to either go to bed our we can stay up as long as we keep quiet. In the morning our scout master wakes us up around seven o'clock and then we pack up camp while he cooks breakfast. Depending on how far away we are from home we stay and play around more and have lunch or we leave after breakfest. On some camp outs we have one leader drive home in the morning if some people have to be at soccer games. I really like to go on camp outs they are a blast.

That is all I have this week.

can't wait!

I can't wait for this weekend. My familly and I are going to Park City for the weeked. We are going to go shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall. We usually go ride the alpine slide at the mountain ski resort. We also buy candy from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

One of the fun parts is always the ride up because you are excited about going and can't wait to get there. We take music we burned on discs and other stuff to do on the way up. Then when we get to the hotel we unload and go down to the pool to swim. We really like to swim, which we do a lot on vacations.

One of the things my mom likes to do is shop at the outlet mall. We like to look in the kitchen ware store. My mom cooks a lot so she likes to buy stuff from the kitchen store so she can make something she has never made or to help her cook something faster. We also look in most of the shoe stores . We go to the paper store where they have a wide verity of wrapping paper. My mom usually buys a couple of rolls to wrap the Christmas presents. She sometimes will buy some birthday paper too because my grandpa's birthday is Christmas Day and he hates it if anyone wraps his present in Christmas paper.

We also go to the Mountain resort and ride the Alpine Slide. It is a lot of fun because you ride up the mountain on a ski lift and then you ride down on a blue sled-looking thing. It sucks when it rains because you have to get off and walk down the mountain. It will probably be closed this weekend since it is fall and will not open until spring. We like to get chocolate from the Rockey Mountain Chocolate Factory. They have all different kinds of truffels and fudge. We usually buy some truffels and one thing of fudge. My mom likes to buy the caramel apples and she will cut it in pieces and share with me and my brother.

We have a familly tradition to go up on the Fourth of July and watch the fireworks the city launches. We always watch it from the pool so we get spots at the pool about three or four hours before and have a party.

Of course the saddest part of the trip is going home because you have the feeling that our vacation's over. It is a good thing that we leave on a Saturday and I still have a day left of the weekend and do not have to think my vacation's over and I would have to go to school the next day.

The only bad thing is that I have to work on homework. I have to finish reading Rocket Boys if I am not done reading it before then. I also have to start reading The Count of Monte Cristo and be done in a month from today. I have not even started it and it is five hundred pages long. I also have to do math homework, but I will probably wait for Sunday to do. Just talking about it is geting me excited to go. I can't wait for this weekend!

Pinewood derby

Last Thursday my neighborhood had a pinewood derby. There were thirty- five cars entered. The only rules were it had to fit on a traditional pinewood derby track and it could only be propelled by its own gravity of the car. I did not have time to make another car so I used one I made when I was eight and it only took seventh place. When I came home from school I just added some weight onto the back of the car. There were also contests at the derby for different things, like best in show, most creative, and most time spent on making the car. The cars were on a table and people voted for the car they liked.
The group that put on the derby had people bring a pot of their homemade chili to eat and to share with everyone. We took potato soup because no one in my family likes chili. They also had a really cool cake with matchbox cars on it and cupcakes with little plastic cars that all the kids could keep.
When it was race time, there were thirty-five cars that were raced off one against one in a single elimination format. The first car that raced mine was made out of pine branches (Get it "pinewood" derby). My car beat it, I knew it would. My car countiually beat other cars, even though I had thought it would be eliminated in the second or third round.
One of the bad things that happened was that they let the kids sit by the track to watch. They had to keep starting the races over because some of the kids would touch the cars as they came down the track. This totally messed up the race and they would have to redo it. Finally they made the kids slide back a couple of feet so they could not interfere with the races. When my car was in the semi-finals against a car that was a little bit heavier than mine, I thought my car was going to be eliminated. When the stop post went down and the cars started to roll, my car was behind. Then when the slope leveled out my car shot forward and eliminated the other car. In the finals, the car I was going to face was a lot heavier than mine. The person who made it had hollowed out the inside and welded four of the weights you screw on and he put it inside his car. I knew this would be a tough race. When the race started I thought it would be like the last one and my car would shoot forward and win, but it did not happen. They did a second race to make sure but my car lost again and took second.
Even though I did not get first place I am glad it took second because that was an improvement from when I was eight. They gave out all of the other awards that were judged at the end. The car that looked like it took the most time to make had 17 coats of paint and lacquer on it. The dad that won said he spent 35 hours on it. The one for the most creative car was built out of legos to look like a giant airplane, something like you would see in a Star Wars movie. There was also a certificate for every one who particpated, so I just went home and wrote second place on mine because there was not a specific certificate for second place. I can't wait for next year I might actually build a new car and actually win!

Snap!...I'm Taking a Photography Class

Hi everybody I am taking a photography class. It is fun you learn how to use your camers and helps you take pictures better. I have learned so much. The first class was about basics concepts. One thing I learn about is printing and what happens when you enlarge a picture, why it goes all blurry. I also learned about format like raw or the jpeg format. I also learned about the symbols on the camera

Lets just say photograpy is an expensive hobbie . First you have to buy a camera, and additional lenes if its a nice fancy SLR camera. You have to buy things like memory cards and batteries. Then you have to find a subject to take pictures of. Then you have to make sure the photo has the elemantes of photography, one most of you know is lighting in the photograph. You also want a program to upload your photos onto the computer and you want to burn all your photos onto a cd for back up memory. then you have to pay to get your photos printed off by a machine found in most stores because there better quality than if you print it of at home.

I can not wait for the next class it will help me be a better photographer. As soon as I become a beter photographer, then I can thing about selling some of my photographs

Homework

I hate homework it takes up too much time but we have to do it. It takes me almost all night to do it then I do not get to do what I want to do. Math always takes the logest time to do. I am in Algebra Two so the work takes some time to do and it is very hard. I often put it off and stop to think about something else, like what I am going to do after my homework is done. I am also going to miss a quiz that I will have to make up after school. At least I will not have to make up homework for being gone.

The next subject I hate having home work in is science. I do not get it as much as math but I do not like doing it sometimes but, sometimes I enjoy it. I can always do my homework fast if I enjoy doing it and not stressed out about doing it. The next thing thats hard to do is practice my violin ontop of my homework, thats why my grade sometimes drops in Orcheatra.

Well I have to prove I read the first one hundred pages of this book for science. I am only on page sixty four, I think. It's a good book so far. I just hope it gets intresting so I read it faster. I also have to read The Count of Monte Cristo for english It is fivehundred pages and thats just the short version of it. Not to mention I still have to find a copy of the book. That is it for this blog
