Many of you know that both high schools have been to our school to talk to us about our sophomore year. I am going to Layton High School. They gave us a hand out of what class we can take. After all of the required classes and seminary I only have about one year of electives that I can take. I might take some classes online. I will probably just doing the normal eight classes. And finish with the exact amount of credits need at the end of my senior year. I would have liked to graduate early but if you take seminary you can not.
There are many choices of classes you can take even the core classes you have can have different types, Like science there is biology, physics, and chemistry. After the core classes there are a lot of class you can choose from. Not all classes are offered to 10th graders. Some classes you can only take your senior year. You also have to look ahead for college because some colleges require two years of foreign language. Then you have to look beyond that so you know what kind of classes to take that will help you with the job you want.
I already knew what math I was going to take and that was pre-calc honors. I am in Algebra Two and I am doing good in that class. Science was a little tricky. They recommended that I should take a biology class, but the counselor that came to our school said I should take the Physics with Technology. I had a little trouble with english because I was trying to decide if I should take honors or not. One reason was that I did not want to take too many honors classes. Since they split the schedule into two days that I would be able to take honors english.
After I had decided my three core classes I had to decide on other required classes and electives. I had to decide between honors world civs. or regular world civs. I decided to go with the honors course. Then their was the other required classes I had to take, like health, fit for life, and computer tech. Then of course every 10th grader is taking drivers ed. That leaves me with two two year long electives. Of course one of those is filled by seminary. Now I have one year left which I am going to use to take spanish. I am trying to decide if I should move on to course two or if I should retake course one. I am mainly doing this so I can have the two years of foreign language if I go to a college that requires two years.
I can not wait for high school. We can leave school to eat lunch at restaurants. Ths sometimes makes you late for your next class, so you have to go somewhere close. I won’t leave every day, but when I do I know where I could go that would not make me late for my next class. The closest places to go would be across the street to the surf and swim snack shack, or to the arby’s that is just down the street and around the corner. It will be so much fun.

Super Smash Brothers
Today the new super smash brothers game came out. I will not be getting it today though because I am too busy. I will have to wait till tomorrow to get it. I am not worried about them running out of copies because I reserved it in October when it was going to come out in December. Then they pushed it back to February. Then they pushed it back to today. I have been waiting a long time for it to come out. It is kind of like waiting for a movie or a book today. I was a little upset when it was pushed back to today, but I have hardly noticed because I have been so busy with homework and other stuff.
It is suppose to be one of the best games of the year. It has good graphics, and they have loaded it with a bunch of new stuff that the last game did not have. I know a little about the game but they have not reveled very much about it, so it will be surprising to see what is in the game. I like these games because they are fun. I did not like the one for the gamecube as much because it seemed like they added to much at once. The one I thought was the most fun was the one for the n64. I hope that this one will be as fun as the n64 one.
This game has a lot more characters and more stages than the one for the gamecube. Another thing about this game is that it has more than one way to play it. You can use just the remote, or the remote and the nunchuck, you can use the classic paddle, or a gamecube paddle. Then there are different settings for the game. You can play with items or without them. Then there are special modes you can do. There are things like tiny mode where everyone is short. Then there is one where you hardly even it them and they go flying.
The game is pretty much the same as the other ones. It played by the same rules as the other ones, which is why they are so fun. It will take some getting use to, but once you get the hang of it and practice it a lot you can be so good that you can beat a lot of people. Each character has different moves, and most moves have the same button combo it just does something different. Most people will pick a character and will only be them and then they become very good with that one. I try to play with all of them, but there are my characters that I am most comfortable with and very good at being. I have a cousin that is good and we are like rivals. We get so competitive when we play with each other. Most of the time you can not tell who will win until it is over. I just can not wait to get mine tomorrow.

Camp out
This Friday my troop went on a camp out. We stayed at a cabin in Heber valley. Their was a good three feet of snow in the mountains. We left Friday at four o’clock and it took us a hour and half to get their. The drive way down to the cabin does not get plowed and it can not be shoveled because it is gravel. We had to hike our gear in while stepping through the three feet of snow. After we had unpacked all of our stuff and all of the equipment was out of the car we started to cook dinner.
For dinner we ate ribs. They where real good and the sauce was delicious. For desert we had peach cobbler cooked in the Dutch oven. From hiking in we had packed down a path through the snow which we widened to make a hill to sled down on snow boards with. And at the end of the hill we made a jump which took a lot of people time to actually land after going off the jump. It was fun and it made you tired after climbing up the hill a few times after you went down.
Since the cabin has running electricity one of our scout masters brought his Wii and we played Guitar Hero three for most of the night. We had a scout bring another guitar and we had face-offs. We had to rotate so everyone could play. I thought I was pretty good but after seeing them play I looked like I was playing for the first time. They gave some pointers and I hope I will be able to beat them next time. Of course I am not going to tell you some of the secrets I learned.
We switched to ray man after we got tired. It was a game that would make you laugh just by watching it. It was basically just a bunch of mini games. In one you had to kick a bunny through a soccer goal. Another ones we played was one where you used a horn and a bell to guide the bunny in a direction to make hit rakes, electric batteries, and fires. Then on one you had to pound a bunny on the head with a hammer as many times as you could and whoever made the biggest goose egg. Their were a lot of others that were fun, too.
After we woke up and ate breakfast we were able to play some more outside. Around eleven o’clock we had to pack and take every thing up to the cars. After we left we were going to Heber to have lunch. We where going to eat at dairy keen but someone said their was a place called Annie’s that had good milkshakes. When we got their a sign said they were closed for the winter. So we went back to our original plan and ate at dairy keen which is like a dairy queen and Dylan’s combined. It took us another our to get home. It was about three in the afternoon and it was raining.

Food
Food is something we all like. Not only do we want to eat food we want to eat the best food there is. Many people try to travel to top rated restaurants. There are so many out their it is hard to say which one is the best. I watched a show this weekend where they went and looked at restaurants to see which ones had the best burger, pizza, steak, taco, wings, and ribs. Most are family owned restaurants which only have one location, which makes sense because it is hard to control quality when you have more then one chef that would cook differently than another.
One thing about finding the perfect restaurant is a personal preference. One person may like a medium rare hamburger and another person may like a hamburger well done. Different places like to eat the same food but in a different kind of way. Like most of us would prefer a pepperoni pizza and some restaurant in another state would not but any topping like you could get from Pizza Hut and Dominoes. Another thing is the type of food you like to eat. Some people may like to eat a slab of ribs where as another person would rather have a nice big steak.
A thing that makes a restaurant great is its menu. When you go to a restaurant you do not have the ability to pick the type of food you want. Most restaurants serve one style of food, one serves Mexican food another serves Italian food. However most restaurants will have a couple of American food, like chicken fingers, for kids that may not like to eat that type of food. Restaurants usually do this because it is to hard to serve both Italian and Mexican food, it is a lot of money to buy ingredients for both which is why they usually pick one or the other.
It may not be the food that makes people like a restaurant, but its decorations and environment. What makes a restaurant good is the decorations it has. When you go to a restaurant you do not like to be in a plane room even if it is a McDonald’s. when you go to a Chinese restaurant the decorations make you fill like you are in China. When you eat at the rainforest café it makes you fill like you are in the rainforest. A lot of people like certain atmospheres. Some people hate fancy restaurants were you can not even have a conversation. Most people like to eat and have a conversation.
There are many good restaurants. There are those few that are really bad. And those that are really good and you want to eat every meal their. There are many things that make a restaurant great. How great the food is. What the actual restaurant looks like. Of course one thing is the service of the employees. But you can not judge the best because there are so many and a lot are opening for the first time and every one has a different definition of a good restaurant.

why I want my own computer
Lately I have thought that I would like my own computer. Of course right now I do not have the money to buy one. I will probably not be able to afford one until I get a job. Right now a good laptop costs a good thousand dollars. Even when I do get a job I will still have to save money for a couple of months before I could buy one. I have plenty of good reasons to buy one. You do not just go and buy a computer you have to decide what kind of features you want and suits your needs.
First you have to decide if you want a desk top computer or if you want a laptop. Desktop computers are more expensive but can hold more information. When you buy a desktop computer you can mix things around. If you like logitech’s mouses and keyboards but you like acer’s monitor you can make it so you have what you want. You also have to decide if you want a tower computer or if you want a computer that the monitor sits on top of. One disadvantage to a desk top computer is that it is not as portable as a laptop.
Everybody likes laptops if they like things to be portable. With a laptop though every thing is made by the same company. Another disadvantage is you do not have a printer unless you hook it up to one. Besides all that you can do pretty cool things with a laptop. Normally with a laptop you have to plug it into the phone line for the internet. If you have a wireless network you can connect your laptop using a wireless network card. Through that you can send documents from your laptop to your desktop computer to print.
They both have their disadvantage and advantages. If I were to buy a desktop computer it would not be from a normal store like walmart. I would go to a computer place called prime systems. I would want windows vista on it. Then I like to have a wireless mouse and keyboard. I do not care much for speakers I only use them when I play a computer game. It is sort of like a desk top computer but you still have the portability. I would also like it to have a wireless card so I could get on the internet. I would have my own if I had the money.

Places I want to see
There are a lot of places I want to go and things I want to see. There is a lot I want to see in the US but if I could see every thing I want to out side of the US there would be a lot more on that list. I will start with the things in the US.
I would like to go to Massachusetts and see boston. I would want to go and see the old north church tower. Another place I want to go to is New York City tp see the statue of liberty and the empire state building. I think a cool place to go would be Florida. You could spend time in Orlando and go to Disney world and then you could see the Kennedy space center. Then you could spend some time in Miami and lay on the beach. I would also enjoy going to Hawaii. It would be cool to play on the beach. I would also like to see Honolulu and other sites on the Islands like the waterfalls.
But by far the best place to go would be Washington DC. This is not a trip that you can cram into three days you have to spend a good week there. There are all the Monuments you can see. Then all the federal buildings, like the white house and capital hill. Then you can see the declaration of independence and the constitution.
There are also places outside of the united states that I want to see. One of them would have to be Paris. Paris is like Washington DC there are all the things like the Eiffel tower that are similar to the monuments. Then there are places like London that I would also like to see. One thing I would like to see in Asia is the great wall of china and Mt. Everest, not actually climb it though. I would also like see the ancient wonders of the world, well even though only one has survived the sands of time ant that is the great pyramid of Gaza.
Then there are places I have been that I wanted to see and I have. I have been to Las Vegas which was fun. I like to stay at Hotels on the strip because each hotel has a little theme like the Paris lobby looks like you are on the streets of Paris and the rooms are decorated like rooms in Paris hotels. I have also been to San Francisco. It’s a cool place there are the skyscrapers, pear 49, and the golden gate bridge. Then just north of it is a red wood forest and they have a cross section of a tree that fell down. They have marked it with a white paint that shows when the earthquake in San Francisco was and things like the world wars, and when Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. There are a lot of places I want to see before I die and I probably will not be able to do until I have retired.

Super Bowl Sunday
Today is super bowl Sunday. The New England Patriots will take on the New York Giants. As you can see that I am rooting for the patriots to win. If New England wins they will be the second team in the NFL to have a perfect season and the first team to go 19-0. It is very exciting day and Every one is waiting for the kick off which is just a few moments away. This is one of the biggest sporting events in the America. Ticket prices are so expensive that the cheapest ticket is over 600 dollars.
Lets start with super bowl wins and records. The steelers have most super bowl wins (6). The Vikings, Broncos, and Bills are the teams with the most super bowl losses (4). 26 teams have been to the super bowl. The 49ers have won 5 super bowls and have lost none. The cowboys have been to the most super bowls (7). The only teams to win super bowls back to back are Packers, Dolphins, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, Broncos, Patriots. The teams that have never been to a super bowl are the Browns, Texans, Jaguars, Lions, Saints, and Cardinals. Only 17 of the 32 teams have won the super bowl.
They also keep records for just the super bowl game it’s self. The longest field goal is held by Steve Christie who played for Green bay in super bowl 2 (54 yards). Longest run from scrimmage is Marcus Allen who played for the raiders in super bowl 18 (74 yards). The record for longest pass completion is held by Brett Farve ( to Antonio Freeman) was 81 yards in super bowl 31. Steve Young who played for the 49ers has the record of most touchdown passes (6). Reggie White holds the record of most sacks in one game (3).
Now I am going to tell you about some super bowl moments. Joe Namath who was the quarter back for the jets in super bowl 3 said his team would up set the highly favored colts and they beat the colts 16-7. John Elway lost three super bowls than won two back to back. Who could forget super bowl 34's last play the titans are a touchdown a way from wining the game, they are on the one yard line and time is about to expire. They and it off to running back Kevin Dyson who ran it and was tackled inches before the touchdown right as time expired on the clock and the titans lost. It was kind of like the ending to the movie Friday night lights.
Their one thing people look forward to about the super bowl, Commercials. The commercials that play during the super bowl are some of the funniest. I look forward to watching them this year. And with any station you have to pay money to air a commercial. This year it costs 2.7 million dollars for a 30 sec. slot during the super bowl. This year will be a very good game.
